I headed towards my truck, not caring whether Emmett was going to come. I just wanted to get home, get ready and wait for them.
As I neared my truck, I was blocked by Jessica. I tried to get past her, making it obvious that I was in a hurry. She placed her hands on my shoulders and stopped me, "Wait Bella, I just need to tell you something." She turned me around so I was facing the school, I sighed and relaxed my shoulders a bit and nodded for her to continue. "Ummm......" she took a long pause, I was about to turn around walk away when she stopped me and spoke up again.
"Okay, just wait. What I wanted to say was you know how Lauren and I kept arguing about freshman year?" I nodded, I wanted her to continue, for me to know about their freshman year. "Well, I really didn't remember anything." As soon as I heard that, my shoulder slumped and I lost interest. "The thing is, during that time, all I really remember is seeing the Cullens and their - what Lauren said - 'posse' together by all their fancy cars. All of them looked so gloomy and evil. No one dared to cross their path. They were like the devils of the school. When the bell rang for us to come in the class, none of the Cullen group moved. They all stood there staring at us. We never bothered with it, but it was just weird. In 2nd period everyone was talking about how Alice and her friends - we used to have the 2nd class together - weren't in class. It was like on the newspaper 'cause they never stopped talking about it." She stopped, looked around and saw Emmett walking towards us behind her. Then she whispered, "I'll tell you the rest on the phone, if not tomorrow okay?" I looked past her and at Emmett, as usual he was smiling, but it didn't reach his eyes. He was probably paying attention to what Jessica said. I nodded at her and as she started walking, she waved goodbye.
Now I have to wait. I sighed and walked toward my truck. When I got in the driver's seat, Emmett came up to my window. "Hey Bella, I'll be running home today 'kay? Well, actually I'll be hunting." He paused and I looked at his deep set, dark eyes. I nodded and put my car in drive, when I looked back at my window, Emmett was gone.
-------
I parked my truck in the driveway and I placed my head in the steering wheel and thought for a moment. I was still not sure which part of this experience was a dream. I know for sure that there were fake Cullens and they came here, but I wasn't sure of Edward staying over and him leaving. I know that it was a dream, I wouldn't have told Edward goodbye and to leave me alone. I wouldn't have asked him that question, and I never would have questioned on why I am still with them. I know this is my place in life and I wasn't about to let go.
I light tap on my window cut me off from thinking. I lifted my head and saw Jacob smiling at me. I smiled back and he opened the car door. I grabbed my bag and got off the car. "Hey Bella, how's it going?"
I smiled, it's been awhile since we last talked. "Hey Jacob. I'm good. What about you?"
"Great as ever." He smiled and grabbed my bag. We both headed toward the house. When I opened the door, I heard the TV announcer yelling out a homerun. I guess Charlie was home, I never noticed his cruiser.
I grabbed my bag from Jacob and told him to wait. I headed upstairs tossed my bag to my bed and ran downstairs. I heard Charlie & Billy cheering in the living room and I headed towards them. All of them were basically scattered around the living room. Charlie was occupying the couch and Jacob sat on the Lazy-Boy next to him. Billy was next to the couch, shouting and cheering with Charlie. I laughed lightly and Jacob turned around he smiled and asked. "Enjoying the comedy show?" I laughed and nodded, as I sat next to him on the couch.
"Hey Bells, coming to join us?" Charlie looked towards Jacob and I as the game stopped and went to commercial. "Maybe," I said. Billy leaned forward and waved, "Hello Bella." he smiled, trying to be friendly. I smiled back and said hello. As their game started, they became rowdy again.
"Yeah, it's been like this ever since the Sox started winning." Jacob smiled and rubbed his forehead, "It's starting to give me a headache." I looked towards the TV and I didn't know anything that was going on. All I could see was a bunch of teams and numbers on the bottom and a close up of the baseball in the sky. I shook my head, how do they find this exciting. It's like gibberish! I looked towards the clock and checked the time. It was only 3:35, I hope this game ends soon. "Bella, can you come with me for a sec?" Jacob stood and held out his hand. "Sure," I took his hand and stood. He lead me outside and to a car I never seen before. "You know how I was telling you about me fixing a car?" I nodded and he continued "Well thanks to that favor you helped me with, it's done."
"No way! It's running now?" I ran my hand across the hood, it feels and looks new.
He chuckled, "If it wasn't running, it wouldn't be here now wouldn't it?" I laughed at my stupid question. It was obvious, but I still wanted to ask. We heard Billy and Charlie shout and yell inside the house. Both of them were cheering and laughing. "We better get back now," Jacob said. Both of us headed back inside the house and Billy and Charlie were both heading out and to the dining room already. "The game ended?" Jacob looked towards Billy.
"So it seems." Billy said. He looked at me and then back at Jacob. "We'll be heading out now Jacob. We'll see you soon again." Jacob said goodbye as Billy wheeled himself to the door, "Take care Bella," I smiled and nodded. I knew he wanted to say something else, but he stopped since Charlie was here.
When they left, I turned and asked Charlie, "Umm...dad, did you eat? You want me to cook something?"
"Sure, but later. Kinda full right now." He said as he headed towards the living room.
"Okay, I'll be in my room." I ran upstairs and grabbed my bag of toiletries, some clothes and I ran to the bathroom.
-------
I drummed my fingers on kitchen counter, waiting for the lasagna to cook. I constantly kept checking the clock, annoyed at the fact it's 5:30 and they haven't even called me. Were they home yet? Are they stuck in Alaska? Not even Emmett bothered to visit me and tell me if he has seen them. I jumped as the bell from the timer rung. I opened the stove oven and used the oven mitt to grab the lasagna. It smelled delicious. I placed it gently on the counter and grabbed a knife, I started cutting when Charlie came in the kitchen. "That smells delicious Bells. Just as always."
I smiled, "I'm guessing you want a big piece." I heard Charlie chuckle, I turned around and grabbed a plate from the cabinet. I placed a piece of lasagna on his plate and placed it on the table. I cut a piece for me and sat across him. It was silent as we ate, it was always like this, but it bothered me somehow. The annoying ticking of the clock and the scraping of forks was all I heard. The silent bothered me, but it was always like this. As soon as we were both done with our food, we stodd and I washed the dishes. As soon as I was done, I checked the clock. It was already 6:20, no point in waiting. I said good night to Charlie and headed upstairs. I changed into my pajamas, and curled up underneath the covers of my bed.
I stared at the clock and thought. Promises promises, how many more are going to be broken? I really wanted to see them, to see Edward. I sighed as I shut my eyes. I was just going to have to wait until tomorrow...
-------
"Come...Come..." I followed the voice to where it led me. I walked across the meadow as the voice tried to lead me into the darkness. I paused in front of the dark forest, waiting. "Come...Follow me..." I wanted to follow the voice, to see if Edward was there, but I hesitated. I took a step forward and peered into the forest, it was pitch black. Someone in the forest held their hand out for me to take. "Come, Bella, follow me." The voice sounded familiar, like Alice. I squinted my eyes and tried to see who it was. She flashed me a bright smile and her black eyes sparkled. I didn't know who it was, but it may have been Alice. I reached out to take her hand, maybe I will be able to find Edward. She smiled wider as she licked her lips. Her eyes glistened with lust as I got closer. "Bella!" someone behind me yelled out my name. The woman hidden in the forest jerked her hand back and growled. I turned around to see what her reaction was about. There staring at me at the other end of the meadow was Jacob. He had a pained look as Edward emerged to the side. Who called out for me? I shook my head, wondering if this was a dream. This all had to start this last Saturday, I shook my head as horrible memories came. "Bella..." I looked up as the voice broke my trance...it was Edward. He walked closer as everyone behind me snarled. He continued to head toward me as everyone behind me grew louder. I took a step forward, almost afraid of what was behind me. As Edward neared, the girl behind me grabbed my arm, her skin was glittery as she hit a little sunlight. Jacob had drew backward, leaving me and everyone else. His face was angered as he ran back home. Someone was hidden behind a tree to my right, as I got sucked into the darkness more, my resistance weakened. Something or someone was controlling me. When Edward was about a feet in front of me, I was half-way into the darkness, and everything was going blurry. I heard a growl and something attacked Edward....
"EDWARD!" I sat up quickly, and looked around frantically. My forehead was sticky with sweat. I pulled my hair out of my eyes and checked the clock. It was 4:30 in the morning. I tried to calm my frantic heart and slow my breathing. I got out of my bed and headed towards the bathroom. I checked if I woke up Charlie, but him grumbling ensured me that he was still asleep. I splashed my face with cold water to wake myself up. I wiped my face and looked at myself in the mirror. I looked at my face, and the expression on it. I was different, it seemed like I was lifeless. I shook it off and went downstairs. I went to the fridge, got the lasagna and placed it in the microwave. I sat down and wondered. I knew that Edward was here, he has to be. I couldn't wait until school. I want to see them again, to hear their voices. I stood as the microwave bell rang, I ate my food and ran upstairs. I grabbed my bag of toiletries and headed for the bathroom.
-------
"Bells, I'll be leaving ahead of you. Have a good day at school." I waved goodbye to Charlie as headed out the door. I ran to my bedroom to grab my backpack. As I got to the door, I fixed my blue shirt and headed out. I neared my truck and drove to school. I drove slowly as people crossed my way, I parked and looked around. The silver car I was looking for wasn't there. I unlocked the door and got off. I walked to the back of my truck and fixed my backpack.
"Bella!"
I turned to see who it was and as I did, I smiled.
