A New Enemy

When A New Day Begins...

Another Fight Awakens...

Chapter 7 - Great...Just Great...

I sat up my bed, recalling what happened. I had called Alice earlier, asking her about the incident yesterday. "Bella, what incident?" was all she said. I was pretty much taken back by what she said. I had told her everything that happened. From Alice warning Edward, to Edward leaving me alone. She never recognized any of it. Was it all a dream? I know everything was real, but how come Alice never remembered. I dialed Edward's number.

Just after the first ring, Edward's voice came, "Hello? Bella?"

"E-Edward?" I tucked my hair behind my ear.

"Yes? Is something wrong?" I sensed a frantic tone in his voice.

I bit my lip. If Alice didn't remember, will Edward? "No, nothing's wrong. It's just that...I was wondering..." I paused. I didn't think that I should be telling him this.

"I'm listening, tell me." His voice was velvety smooth. I was getting flushed just by the sound of his voice already.

I sighed, "Okay, then. Listen carefully." I stopped wondering how I should put this. I decided to go with one question first. "Edward? Did all of you leave Alaska and go to my house last night?"

There was a long pause. Some whispering in the background. I wonder who it was. Then Edward's voice came again, "No, nothing I can recall. Last night we were hunting. We were in Canada all day and night. Why? Did something happen last night?"

"No, nothing is going on. I was just wondering. When are you guys coming back?"

"We should be back there by 5pm tomorrow. Bree just got back and we were helping her adjust. It was hard to break the news to her family."

"Why? What did you tell them?"

There was another pause. I didn't here anyone speak this time. "Bella, we told them that she died. That she was murdered."

I gasped, "What did you do when they said to prove it?"

"All we did was let them go to the police station, and the police confirmed that she might have died. Even if they didn't have a body to prove it. Bree was having a hard time seeing her mom cry over her 'death'. She couldn't stand it."

I never spoke after that. Will that be the same case if I were turned into a vampire? They would tell Charlie and Renee that I had died?

"Bella? Are you okay honey?" Edward's velvety voice was suddenly worried.

I didn't want to say goodbye, but I was trying to distract myself from asking the question. "Yes, I'm fine. I'll see you tomorrow Edward."

He gasped a little, maybe shocked at my reaction. "Sure. I'll see you tomorrow."

Then the line went dead.

I put the phone down and looked at the date on the calendar. Saturday, January 21st. I closed my eyes and sighed. It was all a dream after all. When did I fall asleep? How did I get home then? This was all confusing. Maybe when I woke up and hallucinated about Edward was my dream. Then what about Alice not remembering?

I stayed on my bed. Recalling what he said, "...we told them that she died. That she was murdered." It echoed in my head, repeating itself like a broken record.

It took me about 15 minutes to realize that there was a tapping noise at my window. I turned my head and fell backward. What the hell? What is he doing here?

I jumped off my bed and opened the window. He climbed into my room. What does he want? "Ummm...Hey Bella."

"Hey...What are you doing here?" He shrugged and sat on my bed.

He looked towards me and smiled, "Nothin' just came by." I glared at him. I wasn't buying this excuse.

"Shouldn't you be in Alaska with Edward, Alice, Jasper, and everyone else?" I walked past him and tossed the pillow I was holding.

"Yeah, but I needed to get away you know? All of them have been up on my face buggin' me and telling me not to mess with what they are doing." He scratched his head and asked, "You okay from what happened last night? You know, with the fake me and stuff?"

I laughed, "Yeah, I'm fine. I really didn't care about the fake you. I knew the REAL Emmett would be more up and going." I grabbed my bag of toiletries and headed towards the door. "Are going to stay here? 'Cause wouldn't Rosalie be worried? Oh and you better get yourself out of my room before I open this door. I'll male you a bet that Charlie is about to come up the stairs to check up on me." Just as I said that, we heard footsteps going up the stairs. I smiled as I saw him run for the window and jump out. I heard a small thump as I opened my bedroom door.

"Good morning Bella," Charlie greeted me as I exited my room. "I was just coming up to check on you. You know it's already 7:10 right? You better hurry if you don't want to be late."

I headed towards the bathroom, as soon as I got in, I turned on the shower and grabbed my towel.

----------

I quickly got dressed and ran to my room. I grabbed my jacket and my backpack. I looked out the window and checked the weather, it seemed like it was about to rain. Uggh. I looked down and saw Emmett waving at me. He was still here? Why didn't he leave? I smiled weakly and waved at him, I headed out of my room and downstairs. Charlie wasn't there anymore; I checked the clock and sighed. It was only 7:30; classes didn't start for another 10 minutes. I grabbed my cereal and a bowl and sat on the table, when I looked up, I saw Emmett grinning at me. "What?" I said.

"Nothin'. I was just wondering something." He acted cool, but the smile on his face gave him away.

"Alright what do you want?"

"I don't need anything." He tried to look innocent, but that didn't work too well.

"As if I'll believe that!" I laughed and accused him, "What do you want? Don't worry, I won't hurt you. You little teddy bear!"

He smiled and said, "Fine. I'll be going to school with you." He paused and looked at me. "Wow, I'm surprised you aren't accusing me of something again."

I smiled, "No it's fine. It's not like Edward sent you back to be my bodyguard or something.” He moved on his chair, squirming around trying to hide something, but I figured out his whole plan. I gasped, "He DID sent you here didn't he!"

"N-No! Edward didn't! I just needed some time off from all the craziness in Alaska. Rosalie even wanted to leave. That's my story."

I stared at him; I didn't know what to say. What could be going on in Alaska? I set it aside and wanted to get to school, I need to know something. "So, you are coming to school? 'Cause if you are, I don't want to cause a scene. I don't want them to think that you dumped Rosalie."

Emmett laughed, 'People? Thinking that we are together?" he laughed harder at the thought.

"Just go back to your house and take your Jeep." I pushed my food away and stood up.

"No can do Bella, my Jeep is all the way up in Alaska."

"Uggh! Fine! Just don't break my car, you can ride in the back, like you always do." I stood and picked up my bowl, before I headed to the sink, I turned around. "No jumping."

He laughed, "Fine."
I rolled my eyes and washed the dishes. This was going to be one hell of a day.
