A New Enemy

When A New Day Begins...

Another Fight Awakens...

Chapter 5 - Something Never Expected

"AHHH!!!" I jumped back, shocked. I was taken back at what happened, why are they here? All of them turned their heads and smiled. I smiled back, I didn't know what to do. A bunch of emotions entered through me at once. I was curious, angry, and a little overwhelmed. I wanted to jump up and down, run up to them, and at the same time kill them and get them out of my house.

Why did they come at this bad time? And why did they go to my house?

This was going to end up the wrong way.

"Why are you here?" I questioned them, "Are you going to stay here long? Or are you going to leave?"

They didn't answer. All of them had glum looks on their faces. I wonder what happened. I felt bad for what I asked.

I asked them again, more nicely this time, "Are you guys here long?" No one spoke; we just all stared at each other. They never moved, never shifted their weight, nothing. They were like lifeless statues.

The silence was killing me. I started to speak, but was cut off by my own stomach growling. I blushed. That's embarrassing. They chuckled lightly. "Go ahead, you can eat.” they said one at a time. I headed towards the kitchen, and opened the fridge. I grabbed the first thing I saw, which was the leftover spaghetti from last night. I heated it up and ate it.

All of them stayed in the living room. I heard the TV turn on and off occasionally, and one of them saying, "Don't mess with it. We won't be here long." I didn't know who said it, but it sounded familiar.

They seemed sad to me, and different. Each and every time I tried to get near, they tensed up. What's wrong with them?

I stood up to wash the dishes and the phone rang. I picked it up. "Hey Bells?" It was Charlie. "Yeah dad?"

"I'm going to be home early in the morning tomorrow okay? Probably about 5AM. I have the night shift tomorrow too, and the rest of the week. Are you going to be okay there without me?"

I glanced over my shoulder, to see them all looking at me. They were paying attention to my conversation. "Yeah dad, I'll be fine."

"Okay, good night honey."

"'Night dad." I hung up the phone and went back to washing the dishes. It bothered me on how I was going to be in the house alone.

I looked up to see myself face to face with one of them. He was sad. When he saw me he smiled, but it didn't touch his eyes. They were hiding something. Same way I was hiding something from them. I quickly looked down and I heard him chuckle.

I got out of the kitchen, but the phone rang again. I went to get the phone. "Bella? Bella? Is this you?" I heard a familiar voice, but I didn't know who. I was a little afraid to find out who it was. "Y-Yeah? T-This me." I tucked my hair behind my ear.

"Good. I'll be there in a couple of minutes. Is Alice there yet?" I was confused. "What are you talking about? Who is this?"

"This is Edward, and Alice saw something, so all of us are rushing back there. Alice left first. 3 hours ahead of us. Is she there yet? Come on Bella, Give me an answer now."

"E-Edward? Uhh..." I looked over my shoulder; they weren't paying attention to me now. "Alice is here. So is everyone else. Even you. I don't think you're Edward. What do you want?"

"Bella! Whatever you do, do not go near them. Leave the house immediately. Go to your truck and drive to the school. I'll pick you up there."

"W-Why? How do i even know you're Edward? I can see Edward right now. He's sitting on my couch. Who is this?"

"Dammit!"

Then the line went dead.

I hung up the phone and sat at the chair next to me. What is going on? What did he mean? Is there trouble? I shook my head. He's not the real Edward. Edward is in my living room right now, watching TV with the rest of the Cullens. I sighed. I stood up and headed towards the living room. All 7 of them stared at me as I sat on the couch next to Edward. They all stared at me. Never taking them off. I felt uncomfortable. "I'm going to go outside for a moment. I'll be in the backyard if you need me." Edward nodded, not bothering to look up at me. As I stood and walked to the back of the house, Alice took my spot next to Edward, I took one last look before I headed out. I walked for a moment, heading towards the tree we had. I grass was damp so I didn't sit down. I looked up in the sky. The stars were shining bright, but it didn't seem right. I felt a breeze, then a gush of air. "Whoa!" I almost fell backward. I looked around wondering what that was. There was nothing around.

"Bella?" A voice called out. Who was it?

"Y-Yes?" I crossed my arms, it was freezing outside. I looked around again, wondering where the voice came from. I saw someone step out behind the tree. "A-Alice?" I couldn't believe it. "Wh-what are you doing here? I-I th-thought you went to sit next to Edward in the living room."

"What are you talking about?" she paused, "the vampires! Bella come here quick!" She motioned for me to walk toward her. I questioned myself. Is this the same scenario with Edward? What's going on? I headed towards her. "Bella, didn't Edward warn you to stay away!"

"Y-Yes. Wh-Why?" I looked at her. She seemed like the Alice I knew. Her smile was genuine and buoyant.

"Why didn't you follow him?! Did they do anything to you? Did they hurt you? Did they speak to you? What did they say?" I was being bombed by questions! This was too much!

"Alice, Alice, Alice! C-Calm d-down. Th-They did nothing, And who are you referring to?"

"The 'Cullens'," she made quotation marks when she said Cullens, "that are inside you're house right now. I just saw these fakes going to your house, and planning to attack you!"

"Wh-What are you t-talking about? Th-They have done nothing to me! A-All of you guys look sad as if something b-b-bad happened."

"That's the point! Nothing bad happened to us. Don't you get it Bella, they are not the real Cullens!"

"H-How sh-should I know that you're the r-real Alice?"

"'Cause the real Cullens -- all of us, where a seal somewhere!" she pointed at her necklace. I looked at it and saw a lion on the silver oval. As soon as I recalled everything, I gasped.

"You're the real Alice!" I hugged her tightly, not wanting to let her go.

"Yes, and the real Edward is behind you." She turned me around to face him. I checked to make sure that he had the cuff link that I just now took note of on his wrist. I didn't realize it until now. I ran up to him and hugged him. I missed him so much. I almost started crying. "E-Edward, I-I'm s-s-s-sorry that I-I-I d-d-didn't b-believe you e-e-earlier." my teeth chattered repeatedly, non-stop. Edward noticed and pulled me away, but my arms were locked tight around his waist. I didn't want to let him go. "Bella you're freezing, let go of me and get a jacket inside." his hand stoked my arm, probably trying to warm me up with the friction.

"N-N-N-No" I held him tighter. He tried to pry me off, but I was stubborn. "I-I-I d-d-don't w-w-wa-want t-t-to l-l-lea-ave." I buried my face in his chest. It was cold, but I didn't want to leave. Alice came behind me and placed something on me. I looked at my shoulder and wondered what it was, it was a jacket. "H-H-How d-d-did you g-g-get this?" I quickly put on the jacket and looked back up at her. Then I realized it, she wasn't wearing the black jacket she had before. "Oh."

She laughed. "It's fine Bella. I don't need it," she walked closer towards me and Edward. "Did they come with you?" she directed her question at Edward. He nodded. "Okay, then we have to figure this out. How are we going to ge-"

"I'm here! What'd I miss? Did you guys kill Bella yet?" Emmett appeared out from behind the tree, with a goofy smile on. I looked at Edward wondering if Emmett was serious, he was glaring at Emmett. "What? I was just kidding." Emmett held his hands up in the air as if to surrender. "I didn't mean it Edward," he put on a big smile. I looked back at Edward, he was more calm, but he was still glaring at Emmett.

I crossed my arms across my chest as a stronger gust of wind came. This I expected it to come. "Come on everyone, we have to deal with this problem." Carlise walked toward me. "Are you okay Bella?"

"Y-Yes. I'm just a little cold."

Edward and Carlisle chuckled, "I can see that he said," he turned his head to Edward, "have you found out anything?"

"No, they are still in there," he looked down, "is Charlie home?"

"N-No, h-he called e-earlier and t-told me h-he was going h-home late." I rubbed my hands together. It must have been lower than 40 degrees that night.

"Okay Bella, we need you to go in there and get them outside. If they attack you, scream and go outside. Either the front of the house or the back okay?" Edward stared deeply into my eyes.

"Y-Yes, b-but can't t-they hear t-th-this?"

Stupid Bella, why do you have to think negatively?!

"I don't know. I think so." Edward was suddenly panicky.

"Then there's no point to this!" Emmett placed his hands on his head. It looked like he was getting arrested.

"There is still possibility." Alice joined in, "they can poss-" she stopped immediately. Her eyes closed and she started to fall, but Jasper caught her.

"What's wrong with her?" Jasper frantically asked. Everyone rushed to their side. I walked slowly. I noticed something on the windows of our house. When I looked, there was "Alice", standing there and staring at us. Her eyes were penetrating. It seemed to hurt when I look at her. My eyes started to close. "E-Edward!" I shouted before I fell. Edward caught me and I pointed at "Alice's" direction. "Don't look her in the eye....." my voice trailed off.

--------------------

"ALICE! ALICE! WHERE ARE YOU?!" I yelled her name several times and all I heard was her walking. I headed towards the direction I thought she was in and ran. "BELLA! BELLA! CAN YOU HEAR ME! HELP ME!" Alice's voice echoed in my head.

I kept running, but this time I heard 2 different people's steps:

One was calm, serene.

The other was frantic.

By what I heard, I knew that the frantic one was Alice. I concentrated hard on which way to go. I was having an inner battle with myself. Unable to trust my thoughts due to it arguing with me with every step and thought I make. I didn't know which was to go, so I chose a direction and ran. I ran for what I thought could have been hours. Then I fell into water. I swam up, trying to breathe, but the waves kept pushing me down and drowning me. Filling my lungs with water instead of air. I was dying and I knew it. I tried harder to swim up, but something was holding my legs in place and not letting me move. I tried with my arms, but it was the same effect, it locked up and I couldn't move.

I was being forced to die.

I struggled with my arms and kept holding my breath. Something pounded on my chest and released all the air in my lungs. I was going to drown. I wished I could see the Cullens again. Your life is supposed to flash through your eyes when you die, but there was nothing. I kept falling deeper and deeper, until I closed my eyes and drifted.

--------------------

"Bella? Bella, wake up!"

My eyes flew open. I waited for my eyes to focus and I saw Edward. I hugged him immediately. I looked around and I was in my room. Why am I in here? Is this even the real Edward? I quickly looked at his arm, I saw the crest and sighed. This was my Edward. I hugged him harder and closer. After what I had just been through, I'm not taking my chances and lose him.

"Bella are you okay?" He leaned back and looked at me, puzzled.

"Yeah, never better," I hugged him again, I didn't want to bring it up but... "Edward what happened?"

"To be honest, nothing really. When you pointed at her, everyone looked towards her. I told them not look her in the eyes and they didn't. Jasper was a little freaked on why she looked like Alice. He wanted to rip her apart. Emmett thought it was kinda cool. She may have looked like Alice, but there was somethings off. Like her attitude, she wasn't as happy and buoyant as the real Alice. Plus her hair was different. It was darker and a little curly at the ends. She als-"

I cut him off, "Edward can you please tell me what happened?"

"Sure," he smiled my favorite crooked smile and continued. "Like I was saying, Jasper wanted to rip her apart, so he jumped up and ran there, but when we got inside, they were all gone. We searched around and found them nowhere. Bella why didn't you mention that there were new vampires?"

"I didn't know. I thought they were you. Especially the Edward one. I missed you guys and didn't think, but I felt something was off. That's why when you called, I didn't believe you. I thought you were the fake. Until Alice pointed at the fact you guys have crests or seals. Now I can tell the difference."

"Anything else you would like to add?" he mused.

"No. I don't remember anything else. Man I wish you can read my mind right now so you can know everything that's been going on for the past month and a half."

He chuckled, "It wouldn't be much fun if I could just read you're mind. It much more enjoyable to see you talk about it and surprise me."

I looked down and blushed. I heard him chuckle, but I just hugged him tighter.

"Bella aren't you going to sleep?"

"No."

"There is school tomorrow you know."

"If I sleep, I know you're going to leave. I don't want you to leave."

"I know. I don't want to leave too." He stroked my hair. Messing with it. "You can go to sleep, I won't leave."

"You promise?"

"Yes, I promise. I won't leave. Now go to sleep."

"Okay." I closed my eyes and pretended to sleep. I kept at it for a while. I knew what he did and I checked to make sure if he was going to leave. He looked over his shoulder and I thought he was going to leave, but he looked back at me. "Bella, you know it's already 3:45am. Go to sleep." Darn it. He knew I was awake. "Fine, good night Edward." I closed my eyes and drifted to sleep.
