A New Enemy

When A New Day Begins...

Another Fight Awakens...

Chapter 15 - Saturday Party

I looked over my shoulder to the alarm clock. 11:45. Great.

I sat up, feeling horrible and tired. I scratched my head, it felt heavy. My hair felt staticy and tangled....Ugghh, it must look like a bird's nest. I groaned as I fell back into my bed, I covered my face with my pillow. This was turning out to be a bad day already.

I heard a chuckle come out from beside me and I quickly sat up. I forgot Edward was here!!

He chuckled again as he saw my response. I blushed and looked down, how embarrassing. "Well, you better get ready." he suddenly said.

"Why?" I looked at him, furrowing my eyebrows in confusion.

"We're going to my house today." he smiled my favorite crooked smile and spoke, "Alice needs our help with something. We wouldn't let her down now, would we?"

"No...but I really wanted to spend the day alone with you." I wrapped my arms around him, hugging him tightly.

"Hmmm..." he pursed his lips and thought for a moment, "I'm sure I could find a way" He gently pulled my face forward and leaned in, giving me a slight kiss on my lips. "....Now go get ready," he said as he pulled me away.

I groaned as I reached for my bag of toiletries and headed for the bathroom.

-------

"Ummm...What are we helping her with again?" I stared at the flowers hung around the stairs and at the petals on the ground. What is this for?

Edward chuckled as he spoke, "Don't get any ideas. This is for Rosalie & Emmett."

"I wasn't thinking anything...just questioning," I said innocently. "So..is like their anniversary or something? Or another marriage?"

"Yes, something like that. It's their anniversary, but here they aren't 'legally' married here, so it's more of an optional thing to celebrate. Alice decided that it should be a priority rather than an option."

"Typical Alice." I smiled, so this is what it'll be like on an anniversary. Hopefully someda-

Alice walked in frantically, talking so fast I barely understood anything, "Did you guys get the bouquet on the table yet? Where's the rose petal carpet??"

"Wait, how do vampires celebrate their anniversary if they don't go out for dinner?" It made me curious, if I were to have an anniversary with Edward, how am I supposed to celebrate it?

"That's what I meant on why celebrating a marriage anniversary is optional." Edward looked over to me, "It's basically a typical hunting trip, but both of you only."

"Then why all the flowers, scents and arches?" I asked.

"It's just for decoration, as much as I would love to plan an anniversary party, it seems better to be sweet and simple for just the both of them." Alice smiled,"It might just be something small and not a big deal, but it makes some people happy to know that they are married to the one they truly love."

It surprised me on how this is the way it can be with vampires. They can live forever, so if they find the one they love...it'll be forever. Wonder if that can happen to me one day. I looked over at Edward and he smiled.

Maybe. If Edward's willing to turn me. I sighed. I know that it'll never happen.

-------

I looked at myself in the mirror.

'Have fun at the party.'

Edward's words echoed in my head. I wish he could come with me, but I don't think Mike will be comfortable with that. It didn't care about what Mike will feel, I just wanted to be alone with Edward, but since he said that he'll be 'busy' tonight, it won't happen.

I heard Jessica's car begin to pull up on the driveway. I fixed my shirt and headed down the stairs.

"Hey Bella!" Jessica greeted me with a big grin as I sat on the passenger seat.

"Hey..." I looked at what Jessica was wearing in shock, I shook it off and asked , "Where's Angela?"

"Ben drove her to the party. It's just us." She fixed her hair in the rear view mirror and began driving.

"What about your date, Derrick?"

"Oh, he's going to be waiting for me at Mike's house. He's like a walking distance from his house, so he decided to just head on there and wait."

"So you're really over Mike?"

"Yeah...I guess. I'm not really sure."

After that it was all silence on the way to the party. I guess she still has feelings for him.

-------

Cars filled the street as we pulled up. Jessica drove past cars as she parked to an open spot in the driveway.

Both of us got out and walked over to the front of the car. We looked at each other, laughing a little as walked towards the house.

-------

Everyone around us was having fun. They laughed and danced to the beat of the music. Jessica walked in front, pulling me to where she wanted to be. I heard Mike's laugh from behind and I turned my head. There, Mike was surrounded by blondes and brunettes laughing.

He seems happy.

Jessica's pace hastened. She was probably fuming. We squeezed past people, Jessica dragging me to the kitchen.

She let go of my hand as she walked over to the counter, she leaned forward and took a deep breath.

"Jessica?" An unfamiliar voice called out her name and she headed towards the door.

"Thank God you're finally here." She hugged him as he came in and lead him to me.

"Bella, meet Derrick. Derrick meet Bella." she said.

He smiled and greeted me, "Hey Bella. Nice to meet you."

"Nice to meet you too," I said. He looked nice...Perfect for Jessica. They could work out, that is if she gets over Mike.

"Is it okay if I take Jessica away?" he asked. Wow, polite too.

I nodded. Both of them exited the kitchen with Jessica holding his hand.

Now I was alone. What am I going to do? Everyone I know is preoccupied, dancing and talking to their dates.

I sighed as I wished for Edward to be here, why couldn't he just come with me?

I walked out of the kitchen, finding to a seat. I leaned back on the couch, feeling alone around everyone.

"Bella!" Angela's familiar voice yelled out my name.

"Hey..." I sat up straight seeing Angela next to Ben.

"Are you here alone? Didn't you come with Jessica?" she asked.

"Yeah, I came with Jessica. She's with Derrick right now." I pointed at where Jessica and Derrick were dancing, they were laughing and having fun.

My heart ached, I shouldn't have come here.

I quickly stood, making Angela gasp slightly with shock. She called out for me, asking why I am in such a hurry.

I walked faster, holding back the sadness that came to my face. In mu hurry, I bumped into someone, "Sorry," I grumbled as I looked up.

It was the girl from my Gym class. So she was also invited. "It's okay," her beautiful soft voice said to me. "I didn't see you either. My name's Anabell, you?"

"Bella. Nice to meet you." I said. She didn't seem like any vampire I've met before.

"It's a pleasure to meet you Bella. Are you leaving?"

I looked down, "Well, actually yes. I was heading out."

"Why? It's such a great party!" she smiled.

"It's nothing. I just want to leave."

"Well, I'm not here to stop you, but please someday you've got to come and introduce yourself to a couple of my friends."

"Umm...okay." I smiled weakly at her.

"Then its settled! Before you go, come on!" She grabbed my hand and began to pull me away slightly. She's the same as Jessica, no point trying to break away.

She twisted and turned past people, where is she taking me?
